Equestrian trail now part of city of Norco
Full Description:
NORCO - The city annexed 6,632-square feet of equestrian trail on the south side of First Street from the city of Corona on Feb. 15.
The portion of the trail, located between Hillkirk Drive and Corona Avenue, was built by KB Homes during the construction of a housing development in Corona.
The trail was built two years ago, but the city of Corona does not have access to it and the rest of the street is located in Norco.
"The south half of first street used to be in the city of Corona, but for some reason when the street was annexed into Norco the trail was left off," said James Daniels, director of community development for Norco.
With the City Council's unanimous approval of the annexation, Norco will be responsible for all maintenance of the trail.
The planning and streets and trails commissions requested that some improvements be made to the trail before the city annexes it, and a staff report indicated that the upgrades were completed.
Some residents who live nearby brought up concerns that there are still ongoing drainage issues on that portion of the trail.
Brian Petree, director of parks and recreation, said those problems can be corrected by city staff once Norco annexed the trail.
